Financing greenhouse gas reduction measures, Indonesia

In collaboration with Indonesian banks, KfW intends to offer a program for financing greenhouse gas reduction measures. The Consultant describes and evaluates experience from previous comparable programs with development of a concept for the new program. This includes, for example, structure, organization and monitoring of the program, selection of local banks, drawing up financing criteria, specifying financeable technologies, investigating possibilities for exploiting the CDM clean development mechanism, and tie-in into national policy.

Generation of CDM certificates from seven 20–100 MW wind power projects, Chile

Since 2008, the client, a project developer and operator of wind farms, has been planning wind power projects in South America and currently possesses a portfolio of seven such projects in Chile in the size class of 20–100 MW, with the first due to become operational at the end of 2014. As part of project development, the Consultant undertakes all activities so that these schemes can be registered and monitored as CDM projects under the UNFCCC.

Measurement of indirect GHG cuts through capacity building, Brazil, Vietnam

Customer: GIZ Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH, Eschborn, Deutschland, 2011 - 2013

When providing technical aid, greenhouse gas emissions can also be cut indirectly by political consultancy and capacity building. However, assignment and calculation of these reductions presents difficulties, so a draft methodology for assignment is reviewed under theoretical aspects and validated by two practical applications. This methodology is reworked and documented in a climate monitoring manual. The Consultant also assists GIZ Brazil in the application of the target barrier weighting method to determine contributions made by GIZ projects to GHG mitigation on existing and lost rain forests in Brazil, with calculation of climate impacts. A check is made of whether this methodology may be applied outside the energy sector.

CDM Services for a 9 MW HPP, Vietnam

The Consultant has been selected by a private company in Vietnam to conduct the CDM cycle for a 9 MW hydropower project (HPP) in Vietnam. The Consultant will provide the following carbon related services:

• Baseline calculation for Vietnams power supply sector
• Development of PDD
• Support within the national and international approval processes (Host Country and Investor Country Approval)
• Support within the Validation and Registration of the Project
• Marketing of generated CERs

Climate Change Mitigation: Development of strategy for renewable energies, The People's Republic of China

Customer: CRS Center for Resource Solutions San Francisco, USA, 2009 - 2014

Within the framework of development of a strategy for renewable energies, investigations are conducted into the experience made with thermal solar power plants, legislation for promoting renewable energies and legislation for renewable energies in power grids.

Generation of CDM certificates from thirteen 20–100 MW wind power projects, Argentina

Customer: wpd development GmbH Bietigheim-Bissingen, Germany, 2011-2013

Since 2008, the client, a project developer and operator of wind farms, has been planning wind power projects in South America and currently possesses a portfolio of 13 20-100 MW projects in Argentina, with the first to become operational at the end of 2014. The consultant prepares a baseline study so that these schemes can be registered and monitored as CDM projects under the United Nation Climate Change Convention (UNFCCC). The consultant prepared the whole range of required documents to register as a Program of Activity. The consultant followed up the entire registration procedure until the ultimate registration.
