Sustainable Energy Supply: Study on supply of Al Hail Industrial Free Zone using alternative energy, United Arab Emirates

Over the next few years, the Al Hail Industrial Free Zone in Fujairah near the international airport is to be developed for setting up light and heavy industrial enterprises, warehouses and office blocks on an area of 900 hectares. The power demand for the project is estimated as 250 MW additional generation capacity, with a substantial share to be met from regenerative sources. In this connection, the Consultant determined the technical and economic criteria for specific alternative technologies. Considered are solar thermal power plants, PV systems, cold supply on the basis of geothermal energy and solar collectors, wind turbines, waste-to-energy plants, as well as biomass from date palms and Jatropha plants.
